12x18 = fourteen cups of batter co-ordinate to wilton

(their chart: http://www.wilton.com/cake/cakeprep/baking/times/party_2inch.cfm )

and so at 4 to 5.five cups per box mix....

that would be 3 to 4 boxes of block mix.

----
i'd probably do the 4 and use leftovers for cupcakes or small rounds that could get cakeballs

-----

and I'd probably practise the extender recipe too: http://world wide web.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-1977-0-Block-Mix-extender.html

with this, since it makes more than, iii mixes would be plenty
-----

and I know I'd play around mix different flavors together to get a custom gustatory modality --- my fav is to mix butter recipe w/ french vanilla and use all butter for the oil and milk for the water.

I use iii mixes and the blistering strips and it works ok. 4 mixes would make a nice tall cake! thumbs_up.gif

I use ii in each, then trim the dome off and stack them, information technology makes the cake a fleck higher, which looks dainty. It'southward only around a dollar for each (if I get them at WalMart, not my supermarket) and that's easier for me than mixing three and dividing information technology in one-half.

For all of you that use 4 mixes in this pan:

Is this a ii" deep pan or is information technology three" deep?
What brand of mixes are y'all using?

(Not trying to starting time anything, merely curious! I use three and still take to trim the "cron" off my cakes. I figure if I used 4 DH mixes in my two" deep pan, a good potion of the batter would exist baking on the oven'due south floor, LOL!)

ADo you accept any problems with spillage? How exercise you prepare the canvass pan and then the cake won't stick to the pan?
